Birth Photography Mentor: Mentoring Professional Birth Photographers

Mentoring with Apple Blossom Families

Mentorship begins with a free 30-minute information session to see if my one-on- one mentoring will be a benefit to your birth photography business. If we decide we are a good fit, we will have 4 one-on-one sessions where I share with you the secrets to my successful photography business. Included in these sessions include information on shooting births, editing, portfolio review, promotion, equipment, contracts, and workflow. You also have 6 months of access to me, to ask me any questions about birth photography. I don’t hold anything back! I have mentored both new photographers and experienced photographers, both who gained knowledge from the mentoring sessions.

Birth Photographer Mentor

Morag Hastings; Mentoring Professional Birth Photographers

Morag Hastings believes strongly in supporting families during their births so they have a positive response to this big life change. In the last 4 years, Morag has lead the pack locally and nationally in professionalising the Canadian birth photography industry. People follow her work from around the world through her extremely popular Facebook page. She is a co-founder of the Canadian Birth Photographers Directory, a listings site for birth photographers all over Canada. She also co-created North America’s first prenatal education classes geared to families birthing at home, www.webirthathome.com. In 2016 Morag’s image won the Best in Labour category in the 2016 International Birth Photography Contest and was voted one of Vancouver’s top Family Photographers on Vancouvermom.ca.

Morag always shares her insight with extremely refreshing, no-holds-barred honesty and humour. Her work with her busy doula and birth photography business, Apple Blossom Families, has not only helped individual families to have more positive births but also has been hugely successful at increasing awareness of normal birth and breastfeeding practices through her photography. Morag has photographed over 200 births in both home and hospital, including many caesarean births as well as some unassisted births.

Apple Blossom Families mentor program is a six-month mentorship including 12 hours of instruction. The sessions are focused on what you need to be a professional birth photographer in your city including what gear you need, shooting births, editing, portfolio review, promotion, contracts, and workflow. You will have one on one mentorship with Morag for a six month period. The sessions are geared to meet you where you are at in your business to help you grow as a photographer. Morag has mentored both new photographers and experienced photographers, both who gained knowledge from the mentoring sessions.

There are a limited number of mentorship sessions per year.
