My first baby of 2013 joined this world on January 1, 2013! It was a fabulous birth with a great couple, the baby’s aunt and a wonderful midwife team. I couldn’t have asked for a better start to 2013. The best part is the beauty and alertness of this sweet baby, check her out!
This morning, the last day of 2012, I was invited to a very special birth. This baby decided to come a little early and once she decided she was coming, she came quick! Her dad had the honour of catching her and her big sister was right there to welcome her new sibling into the world. A beautiful note to leave 2012 with. Happy New Years and best wishes in 2013! Here are a few pictures of this sweet baby.
As a year-end project, I have decided to put together a slideshow of some of my favorite images from the births that I have attended over the last year. I recently broke sixty births and forty of them were in 2012! I hope while watching this slideshow you will get to experience how I see birth, in all of it’s beauty. Thank you to all the parents who have shared your images. In this slideshow there are images of baby’s being born as well as some nudity. It wasn’t how this mama wanted to spend her Christmas morning, with waves of contractions and the intensity of labour. But by evening, just before midnight, C and J’s baby was born into this world. A perfect baby girl born on Christmas day. Happiness filled the room as this little lady joined us, looking like she was covered in snow. She was covered in vernix (a white creamy substance covering the skin of the fetus during the last trimester of pregnancy) and alert as can be. Here is a sneak peek of this sweet girl.
I am lucky to be part of an online birth photographer community. This group has helped inspire me over the last two years with information and inspiration. The best part is the slideshows we produce as a community. This one has 72 birth photographers from all over the world who have contributed their images of siblings at births. Sit back and enjoy the show!
I got the call, baby London was ready to arrive. He came into this world just as the clocks turned to 12.13.12. What an incredible journey it was, mom and dad pulled their baby up into their arms with so much joy it was contagious.
We're half way through our first series of Birth at Home classes and already getting bookings for our second series that starts at the end of May. If you know anyone planning or strongly considering a home birth in Vancouver BC, pass this along for us.
5 years ago my youngest flew into this world early at 34 weeks weighing just 3 lbs 12 oz. His birth changed me as a person and as a mother. It also set me on the track to become a doula then in turn a birth photographer. This is one of the 3 pictures I have from his birth, it is so special to me. I look at it often wishing I could some how jump back in to the image and be their again for just one moment.
I love that I get to give my clients images they can jump into whenever they feel like it. <3 Blessed.
