The mystery behind the curtain... the moment your baby touches air, your baby is born. No matter how your baby meets the world, s(he) is always born from your body. It should always be celebrated... because it is soooo amazing!

I am not always allowed into the operating room, but when I am I always feel so blessed that I get to give my clients the story of their baby's birth. My heart is filled with gratitude for the doctors and staff that understand how healing these images can be for our families.

A local doula and birth blogger, Jessica from Birth Takes a Village, wrote this about delayed cord clamping and I couldn't agree more, especially in a normal birth.

"Keeping the umbilical cord intact instead of immediately clamping and cutting it is a way of respecting the physiological process of childbirth.

There are thought to be numerous health benefits to delayed umbilical cord clamping, including reducing your baby's risk of developing anemia!"

If you have a chance go like her page for more good birth related articles and information she is your lady.

I love it when the parents are included in the baby check.

I hope more and more care providers focus on family centered care, the only way to make change is to ask for it, from your care provider.

Oh and one more thing, I love how most midwives just do it, naturally, they just get it.
