VANCOUVER BIRTH PHOTOGRAPHY

Morag Hastings  has been professionally photographing births in the Vancouver, BC area since 2010. She has documented over 80 births for families and was one of Vancouver’s first professional birth photographers. She is also a birth doula and very sensitive to the needs of the birthing family. Why would you hire a professional birth photographer?

Having someone who is experienced in childbirth, knows lighting and what happens in a birthing room will give you the best documentation of the day your child was born. After your birth, you will have beautiful, real-to-touch images of your child’s birth day, and the moments of that day will be forever documented. The best part is, your partner and support team will be free of being behind the camera. They will get to enjoy your birth in real time, rather than  through a lens. If you have friends and family who are not in the city, images of your new baby will be posted within twenty four hours of your baby’s birth. These images will melt the hearts of friends and family. They will be crisp, beautiful and so true to life.

Birth Photography Package   $600-$1000  **

An initial consultation to discuss what you would like/not like captured. We will discuss any aspects of your birth session that you feel are important for me to understand.

I will join you when you are in active labour and stay up to 2 hours after the birth of your baby. I will be on call 24/7 until your baby is born.

If you wish, a few great pictures of your baby will be posted, on this blog, within 24 hours of your birth, so friends and family can see your new baby.

You will also receive 100-300 edited images on a disc with high resolution images that you are free to print on your own.

A slide show set to music in a password-protected gallery is optional – $400.

Your photos will be available as soon as possible it may take up to 4 weeks. Fees are not refundable if you fail to notify the photographer when you are in labor, although they can be applied to a newborn photographic session.

If a photographer is unable to attend the birth for any reason, you will be refunded whatever deposit has been paid.

Bringing Baby Home or  Fresh Baby Session  $450

I will come to you at any point in the first 48 hours after your baby has been born, this can be in hospital, in your home or the moment you bring your baby home from the hospital. I will stay for 2-3 hours and document the moments of your life with your new baby. You will receive 50-100 digital  images that you are free to print on your own. You will have access to the online gallery up to one year after your child’s birth. Print packages are also available upon request.

Breastfeeding Portraits  $300

The session will include a sitting fee at your home or at an outdoor location for 1-2 hours. This will allow us to have some wiggle room if your baby needs time to get comfortable, sometimes mom’s do as well.

It will include an online viewing gallery of approximately 20-40 digital images that you will get to keep. They will be 4″ x 6″ print ready and not retouched. You can order 5 of your favorites, that I will retouch and send to you at a higher resolution and optimized for printing. I will also post a few images on my blog and/or facebook page for you to share with friends and family, if you wish.

This session does not include family portraits or poising, this is a documentary session where I document your breastfeeding relationship with your child/children. Your partner and children can be included if they are actively participating in the breastfeeding session.

Bath Session $300 no tub or $400 including birth tub and supplies.

This session is perfect for families who want to document their babies first bath. This can be very healing if you didn’t get a chance to use your pool during your home birth, or if you had a caesarean birth and want to find a way to bond post birth with your baby.
