After hours and days of labour, it became evident that my clients would be bringing their baby into the world with a caesarean birth. I was blessed with being invited into the operating room, to document their baby’s arrival. And lucky for them, the doctor who brought their baby into the world did it with so much love, you could see him smiling behind his mask during the entire delivery. It was really a magical birth and I was so blessed to be part of it. Here is the moment they got to see their baby, we had to move the cord so they could discover if it was a boy or a girl. Not to mention they did delayed cord clamping!
Today I get to photograph 13 families from our neighbourhood @ Pomegranate Midwives, to celebrate Midwifery Month. I am so honoured to take part because I love midwives and because I love photographing little people.
I am so excited to be supporting Midwifery Month by doing a free 15 min photo session at Pomegranate Midwives for families in the community, November 27, 2011. These midwives are all amazing, they where my midwives for my last baby and all I can say is- I heart Midwives.
I was so blessed to photograph this beautiful birth of Talia and now I get to share it with you! My good friend Michelle MacLean, a Vancouver Doula, connected me with Marina and Raffi to photograph the birth of their second child. Thank you to Marina, Raffi, Emile, Abi Esther, Michelle MacLean (doula) and Midwives Marijke de Zwager and Kat Montgomery for sharing this birth with me and allowing me to share your story.

My favorite part of photographing pregnant women is how the mother responds to her photo’s. Often women respond with “Wow I am so beautiful” or ” I look gorgeous pregnant.” It is true, pregnant women are gorgeous and full and beautiful. The human body is so amazing expanding to grow and house a baby for over 9 months. I feel so honoured to be able to capture and share this beauty. Here is a preview of this weekend photo shoot with another beautiful pregnant woman.
This past weekend was a perfect summer afternoon to celebrate a baby shower in White Rock, BC. Luckily we had great summer weather so we were able to bring the party outside. The food was delicious, the drinks were plenty and the company was captivating. Here is a sneak preview of the festivities, more to come soon.
Our summer maternity shoot turned into a rainy day photo session. Mom is due in just 2 weeks and I get to be their doula! I am so excited to spend some quality birthing time with this great couple who happen to live in my neighbourhood. Maybe my son will go to school with their sweet girl.
11 days past his due date and after a really long labour, N. and J. received the most beautiful gift, a perfect baby boy. This little man come out ready to join the world. Thank you for allowing me to be part of such a special moment in your lives, I will hold it close to my heart for a long, long time. Here are a few pictures of their sweet baby boy.
