Vancouver Doula Services
I like to think of myself as an experienced birth guide. Prenatally I will support you and your partner with education and information so you have a better idea of what to expect with the birth process. We will create a birth plan that will help communicate to your birth team your birth preferences.
During your birth, I help you find your voice when making decisions around your birth. I provide my clients with continuous emotional reassurance and comfort from the beginning of labour, until your baby is born and the hours directly after. Your partner is your main support; I am there as a secondary support for your whole birth team. Clients find the assistance of an experienced birth doula helps them have a positive personalized birth experience.
After your birth, I will support you and your partner with the postpartum period. Often adjusting to being new parents is overwhelming. The transition into parenthood is something I know well. My support continues with hands-on support or I can refer you to some of the amazing services we have in Vancouver.

During your pregnancy and postpartum period I am available for questions by email and/or telephone to offer support and guidance. If you need assistance out of my scope I will direct you to a qualified professional in our community. You will have access to my extensive lending library of books and videos.
I will be on-call for your family day and night from moment you sign the contract until your baby is born. I will provide you with continuous support throughout your labor & delivery, at home or in the hospital. I will stay with you for up to two hours after your baby is born, to help you with initial breastfeeding and help with getting your family comfortable with your new baby.
In your third trimester we will have 1-2 prenatal visits where we will discuss every aspect of your upcoming birth. These visits are approximately 2-3 hours each. We will get to know each other and work on how I can best assist your family during the birth of your baby. We will also discuss different comfort measures and formulate a personalized birth plan that suits your needs.
I will stay on call for you in the weeks following your birth, offering breastfeeding and new baby support. I have lots of information about breastfeeding, cloth diapering, babywearing and attachment parenting. Please don't hesitate to ask!
What Clients Are Saying
"Everything Morag told me about the birth experience was exactly right. She described the qualitative elements of birth – such as how moms shed layers of clothing the closer they get to birth, how babies come wherever they want to come, no matter how small or unusual the space, how moms get closer and closer to the ground as they get ready to birth, and the sounds moms make as the surges intensify – seemingly small details, but it gave me confidence to trust the experience and where it was leading me. Most importantly, at one point I was so tired and uncomfortable from my back pain (my baby was posterior until the last minute) that I considered taking an epidural. We ended up transferring to the hospital very late and Morag said, yes, to my epidural request. But she knew I wanted to birth naturally and, I believe, because she was so experienced with birth, she seemed to know I could do it without the drugs. I am so thankful that Morag could see that I was really asking for was something to cope with the pain and that the hot water bath and hip squeezes would help. I gave birth to my daughter without an epidural and it meant I had the most amazing, memorable, natural birth experience." Doula Photography Client fall 2014. Read her full birth story is here.
